There is nothing like tubing during the hot Texas summer. If you're a hill country native, you know exactly what I'm talking about. A day spent on the river with your friends or family just relaxing and enjoying nature's scenery. The hill country tubing scene (Just outside Austin) should be world famous! (if it's not already). Planning your float is easier and safer than ever because of the numerous tube rental companies along the Comal and Guadalupe rivers. Each one offers their own unique experience for guests, Austin natives, or weekend visitors. We've rounded up what we deem to be the most exceptional tube rental experiences in the Texas Hill Country!

TubeHaus

TubeHaus is located along the Guadalupe river near the famous “Horseshoe Loop.” TubeHaus is pet-friendly and alcohol is permitted, as long as it is in a can or plastic bottle (no glass). TubeHaus is one of the original tubing companies in Texas—they began tube rentals in 1978. They are considered one of the best tubing destinations in Texas!

Hours: 9am - 5pm weather permitting.

Tube Rental: $17 per tube. Price includes tube, shuttle, and parking.

Reservation: Reservations are not required but the website suggests calling beforehand.

Lone Star Float House

7430 River Road, New Braunfels, TX 78132

Lone Star Float House offers more than just tube rentals. They are also a made-to-order restaurant that features live music on Sundays! Tubing trips can range from 1-4 hours and you are guaranteed to love “The Chute.” The Chute is a nature made, fast flowing portion of the Guadalupe river.

Hours: M-F 10am-8pm, Sat & Sun 9am-8pm.

Tube Rental: $20 per person. Price includes tube, shuttle, and parking.

Reservation: None.

Rockin’ R River Rides

While the main entrance is located in historic Gruene, Rockin’ R offers 6 entrance points along the Comal and Guadalupe rivers. You can choose to tube, raft, kayak, and even stand up paddle board! Rockin’ R is the only rental company with their own private exit. This means you will not be fighting for space to get out of the river at the end of your float! Rockin’ R also offers a Craft Beer Tour and a Designated Driving Service!

Hours: 9am - 6pm Daily.

Tube Rental: Prices range from $10 - $40 depending on your activity and equipment rental needs.

Reservation: Not required but you can book your tube online before you get there.

Texas Tubes

Texas Tubes is considered the most convenient river entry on the Comal river. The tube rental stand is just 20 feet from the river entrance. Float trips range from 2.5 - 3.5 hours depending on water levels. This float will also pass through the famous “Tube Chute.”

Hours: 9am - 5pm Daily.

Tube Rental: $25 for first tube and shuttle. Go again for $10 (same day).

Reservation: No reservations.

Transportation: Yes.

Landa Falls

Landa Falls boasts the longest float down the Comal river. Float as many times as you want at no extra cost! You can rent a table on the picnic grounds to hangout after your float. Located on the grounds of Wurstfest, Landa Falls is the official float of Schlitterbahn Waterpark.

Hours: 10am - 8pm Daily.

Tube Rental: Entrance fees range from $15-$25, depending on equipment rental.

Reservation: No reservations for tubing trips, but you can reserve a picnic table for $10.

Don’s Fish Camp

Don’s Fish Camp is located along the beautiful San Marcos River. They often feature live DJ’s and food trucks, along with rope swings to enhance your floating experience. Camping is also available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Hours: 9:30am - 4:30pm Daily (weather permitting).

Great Gonzo’s Tubes & Shuttles

Great Gonzo’s is located near Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. They are the lowest priced in the hill country at just $10 per person! Shuttle vans are air-conditioned and the float is approximately 2 hours in length.

Hours: 11am - 4pm Friday - Sunday.

Tube Rental: $10 Price includes tube, shuttle, and parking.

Reservation: Yes, you can book your float in advance.

Lion’s Club Tube Rental

The Lion’s Club Tube Rental is unique because it is a fundraising project for the community of San Marcos! Each tube rental payment goes directly to over 100 charities in the local community. Rentals are good for all day activities and unlimited shuttle rides!

Hours: 10am - 7pm Daily. Exception: Late-night Thursday, they remain open until 10pm.

Tube Rental: $16 per tube. Air is an additional $2 per tube.

Reservation: Yes, online reservations ONLY due to COVID-19.

Transportation: Yes. Face masks are required on shuttles at this time.
