We’re always on the lookout for anything that we can make ahead of time and grab and go come breakfast time. These little maca oatmeal cranberry balls make us so happy because they’re incredibly simple to make and they have so many uses! They’re a perfect 3pm snack. They’re great for a quick breakfast or gentle on the stomach for a post-workout refuel. And you can mash these little bad boys up and they make the perfect mix in for a bowl of yogurt and fruit. Really, the possibilities are endless.
That being said, they have an added little kick from the inclusion of the maca root powder*. Maca is a Peruvian “superfood” meaning that it’s chock full of B-vitamins, niacin, and minerals. Since it is also an adaptogen, it has the potential to reduce stress and anxiety within the body.

*As with all supplements, maca root is well tolerated by most people within reasonable dosages (like this recipe!). Those with hormone-sensitive conditions such as breast cancer, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, endometriosis, or uterine fibroids should avoid maca, as the extract may act like estrogen in the body. Always speak to a doctor before adding anything new to your diet.
