As remote working becomes more common, there has been a new workday event on everyone’s radar: the Zoom call. While you are working from home it can be pretty easy to kick it comfortably, but once that Zoom call creeps up, it’s common to find yourself scrambling to look presentable. We want you to feel confident whether you’re in or out of the office, which is why we’ve come up with these eight worthwhile tips for every work-from-home [individual][2] to always look amazing on Zoom calls.

Don’t Forget to Love the Locks

It makes sense that when working from home it’s easiest to just throw your hair into a ponytail and tackle the day. However, making sure to give some extra attention to our locks is an easy way to look great on the weekly Zoom calls and is also crucial for making sure your hair is getting the nutrients it needs. If you’re not up for styling, make sure to at least give your locks some extra moisture with a paraben-free leave-in conditioner to help your hair dry with a natural wave and give the strands the appropriate nutrients for hair growth and strength.

Beauty is Skin Deep

One of the most crucial steps in any beauty routine is a reliable skincare portion. Even when we begin to put less of a priority on makeup while staying home more often, our skincare routine should always remain a top priority for those wanting to feel good on the inside and out. Skincare starts from within, with proper hydration and mindfulness towards the foods and topicals we give our skin.

Remember to always cleanse before bed and moisturize daily to keep skin supple and energized for the workday. Help yourself wind down before bed with a night-time sleep mask to soothe yourself to sleep with that pampered, spa-like feeling. A clean canvas is a perfect way to start off any workday feeling fresh and ready for anything.

Consider New Looks

With the lack of commuting to work daily, there’s never been a better time to finally give in and grab the eyeshadow palette you’ve been eyeing. Start giving yourself some new makeup looks to pop during that Zoom call that you can debut later on in public once you’ve practiced. Janelle Thomason, the founder of Cosmakery, recommends bringing some much-needed light to our features with a simple blush and bronzer.

Following the natural shape of your face, apply bronzer where the sun would naturally hit on the sides of the forehead and cheekbones. As for blush, apply only to the apple of the cheeks because bronzer is where your face shape will really shine. Just remember to always cleanse all makeup off at the end of the day to make sure you’re not drying your skin out overnight.

DIY Manicures and Pedicures

Sure, no one is likely to be seeing your polished toes on Zoom, but that doesn’t mean a matching DIY manicure and pedicure doesn’t mentally and physically make us feel more put together. An easy ritual of self-love, a fresh manicure helps us feel more prepared and polished for the workday and coworkers may even get a glimpse of the glamour while pointing out topics on Zoom. Taking proper care of your nails is a meditative and relaxing self-care routine that can also be done easily between meetings to give your brain a little break during the day.

Maintain Healthy Habits

Without the hustle of the morning commute and hectic workday, it’s easy to slack off on important nutritional habits throughout the WFH experience. It’s crucial to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water throughout the day, regardless of how active your WFH schedule becomes. Consider splurging on a water bottle you love that will help you track how much water you’ve had, and make sure to consume healthy lunches and snacks as well. We all know how easy it can be to grab a bag of chips for lunch but make sure to maintain a healthy diet that includes fruits and vegetables as well. Your skin, hair, and body will thank you for it.

Keep It Professionally Cozy

We understand that it might not be realistic to wear the best clothes in your closet when you’re only seeing people virtually all day. However, there are easy fashion choices we can tweak for professionally cozy work outfits suited to the new normal of remote working. Investing in some comfy yet business-friendly pairings will leave your Zoom pals none-the-wiser while making you feel casual and professional at the same time. A favorite pair of dark leggings paired with a business-friendly shawl, blazer, or sweater is a professional ensemble that is also great for chilling between meetings.

Pay Attention to Posture

This might seem a tad obvious, but when working from home it’s easier to practice poor posture during extended work meetings and long sessions on the couch. In addition to keeping your shoulders, back, and neck straight, you should consider a small back massager or investing in an office chair that will set your spine up for success during the longer zoom calls. These little things will make a huge difference in your Zoom-call energy and demeanor and save yourself from back pain in the evenings.

Don’t Forget The Importance of ZZZ’s

One of the biggest ways we sabotage our beauty routines is by depriving ourselves of some much-needed shut-eye. Getting enough sleep is the first way we can prevent mid-day dreariness and set our workday up for victory. Great ways to get to sleep if you struggle to unwind at the end of the day is by decreasing screen time and investing in melatonin if you frequently struggle to fall asleep or stay asleep.

Unplugging for the night will make sure you have a clear head as you’re preparing for bed and make it easier for you to get the sleep you need to wake up refreshed and ready for whatever the remote workday brings you.

Nailing a remote working routine is a great way to elevate your mood and break the work-from-home boredom that hits around Wednesday. A well-rounded beauty routine will always begin with the ways we treat our body first, from the amount of water we drink and sleep we get to the attention we put on properly moisturizing daily.

These small tips add up a big picture of success during your Zoom calls and will be sure to make you feel confident during any workday, in or out of the office.
